Thursday 11th July -Sundon Hills - Sharpenhoe Clappers walk
Due to the continuing road closure I have decided to move the start of the walk from Sundon Hills car park to Sharpenhoe Clappers car park.
The road was scheduled to open on 7th but the closure has now been extended until 12th and could be extended again. It seems this road has been closed more this year than it has been open
The walk will remain basically the same but we will start at a different location.
Therefore this walk will start from Sharpenhoe Clappers car park (MK45 4SH) at 10am & walk to Sundon Hills Country Park & back
The distance is 5.5 miles with some steps & small inclines. Not THE steps  We will have a coffee stop during the walk.
NB As with country locations the given postcode is not accurate, and in this case it is at the bottom of the hill leading to SC
The distance is 5.5 miles with some steps & small inclines. We will have a coffee stop during the walk.

Saturday 9th December
We will meet at Toddington Village Hall car park at 9.30 ready to start at 9.45.

Ruth did a second reccki on Wednesday, a dry frosty day. The road past the golf course was flooded in two places and the first kilometer of the walk (not even the muddiest part) was a quagmire.  More rain is forecast.  So back to the drawing board.....
As most ramblers will pass through Toddington on their way to Tilsworth golf club, there is easy parking and there are plenty of walks from there, we have decided to write off Tilsworth and walk to the West of Toddington, where we don't often go. It is 5 miles, and we will have a BRIEF stop for coffee. We should be back to TVH by 12.15 to give us time to get to the Golf Club and a little contingency.  Most of it is on grass, very little mud, but there are at least 4 stiles on the return journey.

As this is rather late information, please let anyone that you meet before Saturday be aware of the changes.  This walk will be followed by Christmas Lunch at Tilsworth Golf Club  -  12.30  -  1 pm

changed due to flooding
-The walk before the Christmas Dinner will be led by Ruth.  4 miles.   Leave from Toddington Village Hall at 10am, especially if you need a lift, or 10.15 at Tilsworth: continue past the golf course for about half a mile. Park on the road triangle on the right, outside the Anchor pub, or if space is tight, go to the far side of the triangle, turn left into Bury Rise, (a cul-de-sac) and park along there (NOT on the grass verge!!).We have done our best to avoid the worst of the mud, but a little is to be expected. There will be a brief stop for a drink (bottle or thermos) at Stanbridge church.

Beryl has had to abandon the walk she intended to do around Aspley Guise due to a number of curious, large bullocks in a very small paddock!   Therefore, she has decided to do the “Elephant Walk” near Woburn Safari Park.   However, this route has now been changed and does not include close up views of animals.   Sorry!

The walk is 6.6 miles and parking will be in the big Car Park opposite the church in Woburn.  We will leave there at 10 am.   Beryl has not arranged lunch after the walk but those who wish can enjoy the hospitality in any of the establishments in Woburn or find a picnic spot.        Leaders   -   Beryl -    -   Sharon   -

I can meet as usual at TVH 09:30am, if anybody would like to go directly to Rowney Wood car park please let me know.  I would expect to start walking at 10:15am.- Keith

Sunday 7 May    2 – 2.5  miles only.   Meet at TVH 3.10 pm ,  or Houghton House Car Park, Ampthill (off the road from Ampthill to Bedford)  at 3.30 pm.

This Sunday Stroll is to see the bluebells in Kings Wood.   They are stunning.   The car park at Houghton House, Ampthill is quite small so if you could arrange to travel together it would help the situation.   The walk is flat and not muddy.   (A longer version can be organised but it would include mud and up and downhill.)  So our chosen walk is a “there and back walk”.   Bring a drink and snack if desired.

Saturday 20th November  -
I will do a 6-7mile circular walk from Kimpton. If anyone wants to have lunch afterwards in The Boot and use their car park, please arrange that with the pub first but they have always allowed us to use the car park before so hopefully they will again. I will have to shoot off after the walk, I'm afraid, so I won't be able to join you.
For those of us not pubbing, we will have to park considerately along the street but I suggest we meet by the pub car park anyway,  ready to start out as soon as close to 10 am as possible. – Lynn
Thursday 25th November   -   5 mile walk   -   Stewartby   -    Lunch  - The Kiln
Starting at 10 am from The Kiln Café, Stewartby. OS Ref. TL020423

From the middle of Ampthill, take the B530 towards Bedford.   In 2.2 miles turn left (signed Stewartby).   Go under the railway bridge, straight over the first round-about and just before the second round-about turn right into the car park.   You will see The Kiln sign high on the building which is behind the Stewartby shop. (Please do not park at The Kiln if you are not planning to have lunch there.   There is a small car park to the right of the shop or parking on the roadside.)

We need to pre-order food before we start walking.   We will have a separate, huge, indoor dining area at the Café to ourselves.

The walk will be through part of the Forest Centre to Millbrook Station and then, after a road walk, we will head across fields with expansive views of the Covanta Incinerator, returning to Stewartby via several tunnels under the two railways.

The route I have planned is a little over 7 miles but we can extend to include going up Ivinghoe Beacon if the weather’s good and people want to.
There are a couple of steeper climbs but there are no stiles and if it’s a nice day, there should be some lovely views of course.
I will meet everyone at the Ivinghoe Beacon NT car park on Beacon Road, which is the road off the B489 to Ringshall, ready to walk at 10 am. It will be a picnic lunch.
