Harlington Flowers in Bloom

In places it was hot, so a big well done to us. It is always a lovely walk some of the crops were golden in colour.

We stopped in a sheltered copse for a short break, Beryl had a try a rope swing. Well Done, Beryl!  Unfortunately, the bench had seen better days.

Beryl tries the rope swing!

...sadly the bench was no longer.....

Sandra, Paul and Nita were already there when we arrived and we were later joined by Penny, Sandra, Tracy, Wendy and her sister who had driven there.

We had a really lovely time enjoying our cream tea and cakes in the sunshine, listening to music and exploring the wonderful gardens and taking a look at the horses.

Carol from the Farm gave some of us a guided tour of her interesting garden, the follies had been brought from other places and restored them because her son could not see them being knocked down. There is just so much to see in her garden.

All donations will go to Harlington Church restoration fund.

Thank you so much for coming it really was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon

The Well area next to the church was displayed with lots flowers, John from the village had painted the fence and pump and it looked beautiful.

We were made very welcome again and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon in the church.

There was a raffle,  plants, several items and books for us to browse and make a donation.

Thursday 3rd July Woburn, Husborne Crawley walk led by John W

Fifteen walkers met at the car park opposite the church for a 5.5 mile walk out to Husborne Crawley

Walking through Woburn we made our way out to Birchmoor Green and on towards Birchmoor Farm, where the Duke of Bedford is camped out whilst the ongoing repairs to the Abbey are still being carried out.

Pushing on towards Husborne Crawley, we were walking through nice wooded areas giving plenty of shade on a hot day.

A water break in the woods
A well earned coffee break was taken on the bench in Church End.

Suitably refreshed and on our way once again, we walked through Crawley Park farm and skirting round Aspley Guise.
Crossing fields of rape seeds ready for harvest, passing the pumping station, we joined with Aspley Lane for some short road walking.
Back into the tracks through the fields, we soon joined the track leading us back towards Birchmoor Green once again. Part way we met Joy whose walk it was supposed to be before she unfortunately had an accident whilst checking the route out the day before.
Meeting up with Joy
Back through the village and onto the car park for the end of what was a very enjoyable walk, which was enjoyed by all, on a hot sunny day with a gentle breeze keeping us cool along the way.
