Heartwood Forest walk Sandridge: Thursday September 17th led by Lynn and Beryl

Heartwood Forest attempts to replant areas of ancient native forest that had become rural farmland.  Heartwood Forest is still young , but it attracts varied wildlife though its connected habitats - rare ancient woodland, wildflower meadow, orchard, hedgerow, grassland and new woods

Eight ramblers headed for the Heartwood Forest car park on this gloriously sunny day ready to pace out the first   2.5 ish mile loop round the west of the park. The first loop encircled the Magical Wood and led back to the car park and on to Sandridge church.

There were ample picnic facilities there in the shade of some trees. After an explore of the church, we all committed to walking the  3.5 ish to the east of the car park , heading northward through the young Arboretum and clockwise through neighboring fields back to our start point.

A lovely fine walk, which we all agreed will have to repeated in another season to see the changes it brings. A combined walk of around  6.5 to 7 ish miles without a Tony with us to calibrate it!
