A short Woburn walk of 3 miles was taking place this day so the chairman decided to lead a longer 7 mile walk for the stronger walkers. 8 walkers started from Woburn car park & then headed into the park passing several herds of deer. We followed the track towards Paris House, but did not stop there for lunch, instead carrying on & going through a very stiff gate through the wall. We then turned right & followed the track to reach the main Hockliffe to Woburn road. We walked alongside this for a short distance before crossing it & entering Battlesden Avenue. Here we stopped for a short coffee/water break before carrying on down the Avenue for about 3/4 mile. We left this by turning right through several kissing gates onto a footpath through a cattle field. As the black cattle stood their ground on the path we had to divert round them. After a short while we came across a pile of logs. Here several members requested a stop so we sat on the logs having our coffee & snacks. Afterwards we continued past Potsgrove church, where we had originally planned to stop, the turned right along the lane passing several houses. One of which Diane informed us was the old school house. The walked along the lane until we came to a Tee junction, In front of us was the footpath back to Woburn but unfortunately it was obliterated by a crop, so we stopped for a group photo.
With difficulty we made our way across several fields all covered with crop before reaching a track eventually leading us back through a couple more kissing gates to Woburn fire station. We then joined the road & walked back to our cars in the car park. A good walk on a nice day with no rain, but a little breeze.
